2021 Food Drive for RICFB
October 18, 2021
In December 2020, with the help of CIRI and its members, we were able to raise 1,168 pounds of food and over $8,000 in donations to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. These generous contributions allowed the Food Bank to provide food to families hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is still not over and many families continue to struggle with food insecurity. Loss of jobs and income, increased prices, and the end of Federal aid benefits as of September 2021 mean that RICFB will continue to be a lifeline for many to provide for their families. As an industry that has continued to operate throughout the pandemic, it is important that we do what we can to help our neighbors in need.
To kick off the holiday season, we will once again hold a food drive to benefit RICFB, starting on October 18, 2021 and ending November 18, 2021. Contributions can be made in the form of non-perishable food donations or monetary donations. Those who would like to make a monetary donation directly to the food bank can do so by going to http://justgiving.com/fundraising/CIRI . Any amount can make a difference and every $10 can provide 25 meals. Food donations can be brought to Cardi Corporation’s Safety Office at 385 Lincoln Ave, Warwick, RI, and will be picked up and distributed by RICFB in time for Thanksgiving. Holiday food donations can include stuffing, cranberry sauce, boxed mashed potatoes, canned gravy or gravy packets, bread mixes, canned soup or soup mixes, and canned vegetables. You can also choose from the list of their most-needed non-perishable food items which can be found here.

We thank you in advance for your generous donations this holiday season. Together, we can help to ensure that no Rhode Island family goes hungry this winter.
